Soyuz Launcher Deluxe: Recording & Mixing Via Mardot

For the release of the Launcher Deluxe, we wanted to head into a studio and track an artist from start to finish with the stereo inline microphone preamp on every source. But, we wouldn’t stop there. No, we also wanted to mix the final track with the Launcher Deluxe!

We met up with Detroit, Michigan-based artist Via Mardot at Willis Sound for basic tracking. The three-piece has an incredibly unique sound that blurs the lines between exotica, French Ye-Ye, and spaghetti western soundtrack. The group’s eclectic choice of instruments made the demo extra special, as we were able to put the Launcher Deluxe to work on theremin, marxophone, and a candy holder with toy cymbals the band picked up from the nearby liquor store.

Watch the video below to hear Via Mardot’s “Stocks” recorded and mixed with the Launcher Deluxe. Continue on afterward to see the signal chain for each source.
